India going will be a roaming free zone from June 15 onwards ! Union telecom minister Ravi Shankar Prasad announced state-owned operator BSNL will provide nationwide free roaming service starting June 15.
We are hearing this news for the past couple of months but this time it is officially announced. BSNL the state-owned telecom company got around 7.8 Cr Mobile subscribers. All these subscribers will now enjoy free roaming anywhere in the country.
He also said that his NDA government will ensure that Wi-Fi hotspots powered by BSNL will be operational in all major tourist spots in couple of years. The BJP govt plans to set up 2,500 Wi-Fi spots this year alone.
The NDA government is taking many steps to make BSNL, as well as MTNL, profitable again. In this regard, Prasad also announced that BSNL has registered a 2.1% increase in revenue in the last financial year.
